Burmah Road Apong..

Apong is a type of pancake that you can get in Malaysia. Strangely I am not an Apong fan but it was recomended by Ho Chiak from TV8 thats wat i wan to get a try on it

Penang island….. is a place for Apong?… truely it is… The Apong Heaven,….. so fluffy, so creamy, so light, so soft and yet with the taste and a hint of sweetcorn and ripe juicy banana.

You can find these two Apong stalls just at the roadside of Jalan Burma, Penang and it is only RM0.30 a piece……. such a bargain for such lovely dessert. This Apong can be taken while they are warm and cold but I really prefer when there are warm….. so soft and so creamy, lovely as it melts in your mouth. I would say they are goes well with a cuppa of tea or coffee.

At each batches, nine Apongs can be generated from the moulded pan and takes about 5-6 minutes to ready. Therefore if you want to taste this heavenly delicious Apongs, you may need to place order them in advance or even mobile them, if not you may need to wait half an hour for yours.

Lunch at Dorsett

We had our lunch at Dorsett Hotel. The buffet costs RM36 net if I’m not mistaken, but since we came in a group, we got 20% discount, wonderful. The buffet has around 60 type of dishes, including salad and vegetables. Overall, we’re satisfied with the food, and everyone went back with full stomach of food. In Penang, i really don go for hotel buffet.. except in Sabah..this time i went cause my friends say they wan to makan hotel food this time.

Where Again now.. em.. Having many photos on food i keep on every place i eat.finally have a chance to blog them.. as i am staying home today. This has been many many times i eat in Kim Gary at Gurney.. i hope one day.. i can complete all de dishes dere.. as i hang out very often in Gurney Plaza.. There goes wat I ate..that time

‘Hou Mei Yuen’ Pan Mee

When I came back to Penang after 3 years in Sabah, I was real crazy on Pan Mee and I discovered this little gem, ‘Hou Mei Yuen’ kopitiam, tucked away in the flats opposite Vistana Hotel, near Bukit Jambul Complex.

This kopitiam only sells Pan Mee, served dried or with soup. The ‘mee’ (noodle) comes in 2 varieties – thick and flat, or thin. I like my Pan Mee thin and will always order the dried version, which looks something like this….
The dried version Pan Mee has mee mixed in yummy black sauce and comes with minced meat, crunchy ‘ikan bilis’ (anchovies), black strips of ‘bok nee’ (dried black tree fungus, ok it tastes better than it sounds!!) and a bowl of soup with fish balls. Best of all, the chilli dip that they serve is also two thumbs up! Its not too spicy and slighty tangy…makes for a great companion to that scrumptious plate/bowl of pan mee!

This being a kopitiam, and a very popular one at that, there are no frills. You write your orders on little stacks of papers and hand the paper with your table number written on it to the girls at the stall. You also have the option of adding extras like ‘ikan bilis’ and fish balls. They usually only serve “leng teh” (cool tea) either hot or cold.
‘Hou Mei Yuen’ is open Monday-Saturdays 8am-3pm.

Thai Coconut Ice Cream

Indulging in ice creams are one of my favorites.. I love ice creams..thats a good one that is Thai Cocunut Icecreams.. There are many stalls in Penang that sells coconut ice cream that i love the most will be the one in the Sleeping Buddha along Lorong Burmah.. This stall had been dere since i am a kid.. and i love to take them..

The ice cream can choose taken in cone, cup or bread style.. other than that, you can add attap chee as well as corn and peanuts for those who ordered the cup style.. and the ice creams are freshly made.. em.. yummy

roTi BoY

Finally RotiBoy has landed in Penang. By now, the novelty of a hot, crispy on the outside, soft inside coffee and butter flavoured buns have wear off.

Over here, in Penang, the Rotiboy outlet has a cozy corner for teh tarik and coffee. The shop is in the basement, two shops away from Sushi King. We were tired out from a day of shopping and plonked ourselves down at their sofas for some Mexican Bun and teh tarik. And it seems when u pass nearby dere.. the smell of the roti really indulged me

The size of the Mexican bun seems to have shrunk and it is less oily than I remember. It has been a long time since I ate a Rotiboy. Comparing to PapaRoti, I prefer Rotiboy. But the funny thing is PapaRoti costs the same, i.e. RM1.80.

Chilli’s in GurneY

Chili’s is now opened in Penang. It is on the ground floor of G (hotel in Gurney Drive) and just right across the cafes in Gurney Plaza. I had been to Chili’s in KL and my frens love these kinds of foods, especially TGIF. So when we have a branch here in Penang, I decided to check it out myself.
The restaurant is spacious, bright and service is good. But then, it is just days old and I am sure the trained staffs are from their KL outlets. Normally, 1 order a meal that can feed two persons because the portion is huge. hehe.. so save up as well not wasting food ma..is nice lo..

 

TOWN STEAMBOAT RESTORANT.. cheap and nice

There are many frens recomend me steamboat.. EaT all You Can.. em.. i was thinking onli 1 famous one in Nagore Road but they tell me another one in Mc Callister Road.. opposite the UMNO Building.. is Town Steamboat Restorant. The Restorant open fr 5.30 om till 11.45 pm.. jus got makan at evening onli..

I reach dere about 6.30 and is also pack.. The shop front place have this big banner there..

Chicken Rice Shop Mango Kerabu

Today afternoon suddenly thinking of makan Kerabu Mango.. actually thinking to go Food Loft but lazy walk up.. so ended in Chicken Rice Shop.. So ordered just Kerabu Mango since not hungry and we jus plan fr a chat .. and ordered some drinks.. em.. de Kerabu as usual is so nice.. but a bit expensive RM 8.00 and not enough fr me makan also.. haiz… but ok la once a while..

Thai Sauce Chicken Rice fr Temptation

Office makan again.. i am having this yummy food.. this nice one is Thai chicken rice from Temptation. The food in this shop is nice.. This set comes wif a mushroom soup as well as Ice Lemon Tea… jus fr RM9.90

I had taste many food from Temptation in Agilent office.. but i think many place still have temptation right? Not too sure.. but dining there is nice and de cakes too.
